DemonTHON Fundraising Tips and Tricks!

Hello DemonTHONers! Shriya Malisetty (Fundraising Director) and Sarah Feroz (Finance Manager) here! We are very excited to be writing this blog post for everyone today because we have some tips and tricks up our sleeve to share with you to help you reach your fundraising goal for the year. Today, we will be focusing on Donor Drive - our fundraising platform!


With COVID-19 we have all been facing setbacks, but we appreciate your dedication to fundraising for the kids! We understand that it can be difficult to raise money this year because of everything that’s been going on, so, like always, we ask that you just do your best!


So… let’s get started! Your Donor Drive page is key in your fundraising journey. It is not only where you collect donations, but it is a reflection of who you are. We highly encourage you to personalize your DonorDrive page because to a certain extent, your donors are supporting you as much as they supporting the hospital, so your page should give them reasons for why they should support you. Here’s a checklist to help you set up your DonorDrive page:

  1. Add a Profile Picture!

    1. If you have a picture of you at a DemonTHON event or wearing DemonTHON merch, add it in! You can put pictures in your bio too!

  2. Personalize your bio!

    1. Explain what DemonTHON is, what Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital does, and where the money goes. Tell us a little bit more about yourself too, and why you’re in DemonTHON, and why you’re For the Kids (FTK)!

  3. Create a FaceBook Fundraiser!

    1. DonorDrive can automatically connect to your FaceBook account and do this for you. Once this is done, you can share the fundraiser on your FaceBook page, and ask for donations!

  4. Share the link!

    1. Your DonorDrive page will have a personal link that you can send out to people you know. So, share the link wherever you wish.

    2. If you’re writing an email, we highly encourage you to personalize the email to each individual instead of sending out a mass message because people are more likely to donate with a personal message.


Did you know that you can now put money into DonorDrive with Venmo?!! How amazing is that! If you have friends or family who would prefer to venmo you a donation, you can transfer that Venmo balance into your account as a donation. Here’s how it works:


  1. On your phone, go to your DonorDrive Page. (psst… it helps if you email the link to yourself)

  2. Click “Donate,” enter your donation amount, and click Venmo as the payment method.

  3. Connect your Venmo account and hit ‘Done’!


It’s that quick and easy!


And always remember to thank your donors! A “Thank You” letter or email goes a long way! Keep an eye out for another post with more info on how to write a thank you note!!
